ABOUT TONALCALLI

In the ancient Toltec tradition, our life is a sacred dance between two worlds: 

Tonalli (our conscious mind, daily life, purposeful destiny, vitality, animating force, and a person’s particular destiny or life-force) and Nahualli (our deep subconscious, intuition, and spiritual wilderness). 

 

True healing is not about escaping the world but about transcending suffering by bringing these two aspects into full conscious, harmonious integration.

 

Tonalcalli is comprised of two Nahuatl words tonal (see meaning above) and calli (home, house, dwelling place, building). So, "Tonalcalli" can be understood as  “House of the Tonalli,” “House of the Life Force,” “House of Vital Spirit,” “House of Sacred Vitality,” “House of the Sun Within,” “House of One's Sacred Essence,” among others. In other words, more than pointing to a physical space, it describes the inner space where our soul dwells and where the process of inner healing and growth takes place.
